This presentation will provide an overview of the best available evidence for the care of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as outlined in two recently published American Academy of Neurology (AAN) guidelines. Robert G. Miller, MD, AAN Fellow and lead guideline author, will highlight the strongest recommendations and will describe how they fit in the context of real-world clinical practice. Gary S. Gronseth, MD, AAN Fellow and evidence-based medicine consultant, will provide a brief overview of the AAN guideline development process at the start of the presentation.
